This Privacy Policy explains what information the AntroFact mobile application ("the App", "we") processes, why, and what your choices are. AntroFact is an educational app that shows anthropology facts. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the App.
The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or location, and it has no sign-up. To read and sync content, the App uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which assigns a random identifier to your installation. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is deleted when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
Your saved facts, collections, reading streaks, daily counters, and preferences (theme, reminder time) are stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. They are not uploaded to our servers. Uninstalling the App deletes this data.
The App relies on the following Google services, which may process data as independent processors:
Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Authentication, Remote Config, App Check) — delivers the fact content and app configuration. Firebase may process device information such as IP address and basic device identifiers to provide the service. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
Google AdMob — shows ads in the free version of the App (a native ad in the feed and optional rewarded ads you choose to watch). AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID and use it to serve and measure ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google settings. See how Google uses data in advertising.
Google Play Billing — processes the optional one-time Premium purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your payment details. Purchase state (whether Premium is owned) is checked through Google Play.
If you enable the daily reminder, the App schedules a local notification on your device. No data leaves your device for this feature, and you can turn it off at any time in the App or in system settings.
Purchasing Premium removes ads from the App. Rewarded ads are always optional and only play when you explicitly choose to watch one.
The App's content is educational and suitable for general audiences. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will address it.
Local data (saved facts, streaks, settings) lives only on your device and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its storage. The anonymous authentication identifier is abandoned when the App is uninstalled. Ad-related data is retained according to Google's policies linked above.
Locally stored content is encrypted on the device. Communication with our backend uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and backend access is protected by Firebase security rules and App Check.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected before they take effect.
